My life with Iain

Created by Brenda Scott 9 years ago
I first met Iain when I was 16 years old. He was a friend of my cousin John who lived next door to me. Iain was always on a bike ,I never saw him without one. His love was cycle racing, he would train during the week and race at weekends. When Iain asked me out he warned me that cycling took up a large part of his spare time after work, but somehow we managed to see each other. I supported Iain every weekend at cycle races. I grew to love the sport ( as a spectator ). We married in 1963 and cycling was always a big part of our lives. When Iain gave up racing he turned to organising races and eventually managing men and womens teams. Iains health started to give problems and he struggled to keep up with all involved, so he retired from the sport. In the later years he loved spending time with our daughter Sarah, son in law Ross and our three grandchildren. He was delighted when our youngest Daisy was born on his 70th birthday. Iain was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2006 after having ill health for quite a while. We had spent 46years of married life when he passed away in 2009.
